Lottie Kerrington Part 2

01

That first morning at the beach house, Lottie was awakened by the sound of pots and pans in the kitchen. She looked at her watch - 7:30am.

"Ooooooh," she groaned. "I'm vacationing with an early bird. Great."

Sighing resignedly, she dragged herself out of bed, all hopes of a good, long sleep-in shot to smithereens as a male voice began singing downstairs in short, up-beat rap-like melodies - if one could call them "melodies". She quickly dressed and went through her usual 10-minute morning routine before heading downstairs to the smells of coffee, fried ham, and blueberry pancakes.

"Hey! Good morning and welcome to your vacation!" Hunter took a quick look behind him at her before turning back to flip some pancakes.

Lottie bit back the urge to snarl something nasty about his waking her up - which took super-human strength, being as she hadn't had a cup of coffee yet.

"Um, good morning." She stopped and surveyed the large spread Hunter was working on. "This is an awful lot of food. Do you eat this much every morning?"

Hunter laughed and flicked off the range, plopped the last pancake onto the serving plate, and spun around. "Heck no! But I figured since you hadn't had a chance to go shopping yet, the least I could do is make sure you were fed this morning."

Lottie's eyes narrowed, but Hunter just smiled broadly and handed her a cup of coffee. Then he heaped two plates full of food and led the way to the table.
